Tips For Your Vacation

Whilst we are preparing for our well earned vacation, there are several things that we need to do before we can relax completely. Have a look through this list just to make sure that you have covered all angles.

A Few weeks before you leave

Ensure you have booked all flights, accommodation etc, and that all have been confirmed.

Check your arrangements for having any household pets looked after during your holiday. If they are going into kennels or a cattery, are their vaccinations upto date? Have you got the certificate handy? Make sure that anything they need for their own holidays are packed as well.

A Few Days Before You Leave

Stop any deliveries you would normally have, i.e papers, milk etc. Otherwise these are a sure sign to anyone walking by that your house is empty.

Leave your travel itinerary with someone, together with a contact number to reach you in an emergency.

Give someone that you trust a key to home and ask them to water any plants, check the garden etc.

Check you have packed the right clothes for the climate of the area you are going to for your holidays. Don't forget things like standard medications such as plasters, pain killers, stomach upset remedies, and of course sun cream if going to a hot climate.

The Day Before Your Holiday Commences

Set any timers for lights etc in your home, as this helps give the idea that there is someone in the house.

If you are driving to the airport/port make sure the car is ok before you commence your holiday. If you have a car booked, check with the firm what time it is arriving.

If you have young children have you packed a bag of bits like pencils, paper, car games etc. to keep them amused on the journey?

Last Minute

Pack any prescribed medicines that you, or anyone who will travel with you, will need, and make sure they are in hand luggage so you can easily get hold of them.

Have you put your tickets, passports where they are easily accessible?

All done? Take a breather then go off and enjoy your well earned holiday.
