G'day,
Big thanks to Matt Garvey who is a regular reader of this article. Following his email to me today I was reminded of one of our favourite marketing strategies that provide maximum bang for your buck!
Over the years I've found that aligning yourself with a charity or not for profit organisation can provide your business with great exposure and your local newspapers with some great copy.
In our case we develop a website at no cost for one of the local charities, scout groups, or other local community groups. In return, when the client is completely satisfied with their new website, we invite the local press to the launch to write a newsworthy story and take a photo for the newspaper.
When we first caught up with Matt he was a young builder trying to raise exposure for his business.
Our plan for Matt was to find a local community group where he could do a mini construction job to gain maximum exposure for his business without paying for advertising.
It just so happened that the local scout hall needed a facelift and some minor internal construction.
Perfect!
With the help of the dad's the facelift was completed in a couple of weekends.
We then contacted the local media and informed them of the launch date for the New Community Scout Hall (newsworthy).
Matt got his photo taken shaking hands with local scout leaders and Halleluiah.
He got his exposure, and the best form of advertising - an editorial - and his phone hasn't stopped ringing.
Cost effective marketing is easier that you think. |
