American Artist, Ed Booth, To Exhibit At Laguna Beach Sawdust Art Festival

American artist, Ed Booth, will exhibit at Laguna Beach Sawdust Art Festival, Winter Fantasy, at Booth 130.

"This will be my first time exhibiting at the Sawdust. I am really excited and looking forward to a great show," states Booth.

The Sawdust Festival, Winter Fantasy, located at 935 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, California, will be held over four weekends, November 19th-20th, 25th-27th, December 3rd-4th, and 10th-11th during the hours of 10am to 6 pm.

Ed Booth's exhibit will feature limited editions of NFL greats Christian Okoye and Eric Dickerson. Limited editions are also signed by the athletes themselves.

The original oil painting of the Christian Okoye limited edition was sold recently during a celebrity auction at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

Also included in the exhibit will be another original oil that was commissioned for the Christian Okoye Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournaments and used in promotional material.

During the Sawdust Festival Ed Booth will be demonstrating his painting styles using oils and mixed media.

Born in Austin, Texas in 1958, Ed Booth realized by high school that art was his passion. Although studying both fine and graphic arts did not lead to a career in the arts, the first several years after graduation helped him learn to "know myself - my limitations as well as my abilities." After a tour of military duty he enrolled in college to study landscape architecture and graphic design.

The California real estate bust in the early '90s focused his efforts in graphic arts and he established a successful graphic design firm. However, fine art remained his first love and whenever possible he steps away from his computers and to his easel.

Acknowledged by his peers as a master of the use of color and a self-avowed student of composition, Ed brings to his images a sense of life and vibrancy not often found in contemporary works. Depending on his subject matter, Ed will paint in either a soft impressionistic style or if the subject dictates, a bold style bordering on abstract expressionism.

He readily admits to being influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gaugin and Robert Clunie as well as contemporary masters LeRoy Nieman, Richard Coons and Howard Behrens. He has equal facility with both brush and knife and is very adept at using a limited palette.

A keen sense of how man interacts with nature, and of how nature often has the upper hand in those interactions, is one of the hallmarks of Booth's work. Another hallmark is his candid portraiture of people at work or play.

He also has a deep and abiding love of nature. Influenced by Clunie and Coons, he is starting to explore the Eastern Sierra Nevada, John Muir's "Range of Light" and will soon be displaying images based on Sierra landscapes.

Ed currently resides in the apple growing community of Oak Glen, CA, in the southern end of the San Bernardino Mountains. The peaceful community is perfect for artistic pursuits.
