7 Insomnia Cures to Try Tonight

Are you one of the millions of people that lie awake in bed every night? Do you long for some way to just get into bed and go to sleep? Maybe you have tried sleeping aids and found that they left you feeling groggy and sluggish the next day. If you are one of these people, the following information could be just what you have been looking for. These are all natural ways to help you fall asleep that have been used by a multitude of people through out the course of time.

1- One of the most popular methods is to simply get out of bed if you can't sleep. The premise here is that by staying in bed trying to go to sleep, you are actually getting yourself stressed out and actually moving further from the goal. By getting out of bed, you effectively remove that source of stress, thereby increasing the possibility of getting tired.

2- Another widely used option is to do some reading. It is thought best to keep this on a lighter level, horror novels are generally not the best bet if you want to go to sleep. This type of reading helps a lot of people get the sleepy feeling that they need to actually go to sleep.

3- If reading a story doesn't get you in the mood for sleeping, how about a high school history or government book. It worked in the classroom, maybe it will work in the bedroom too.

4- You might also try listening to some easy listening or other type of soft music. Keeping the volume just loud enough for you to hear it, but not loud enough that it will wake you up once you do manage to go to sleep.

5- Some people find that a reliable insomnia cure is to do some light, easy stretching. This seems to relax the body and mind, allowing you to fall into a blissful sleep.

6- Taking a hot bath is the path for other insomnia sufferers. While indulging in this method, it is important to keep the lights low; this will help to set the frame of mind that sleep is just around the corner. Using an oil such as lavender that is known to help induce sleep is a good addition to this method.

7- In fact, using aromatherapy is a good addition to any of these methods. Oils that are known to induce sleepiness are of course lavender, but also, passion flower or chamomile.

It is important to focus less on the fact that you need an insomnia cure, and focus more on getting your mind emptied of distracting thoughts. Try these methods and sleep well.
